printable big mouth monster coloring pages

Something amazing has happened: it’s halfway through summer break and I haven’t threatened to give my children away once! The usual too-much-togetherness-bickering hasn’t really been a problem this summer, which is truly miraculous. I think it’s because my kids are all getting so old – my oldest has his driver’s license and a job, and my youngest will be in first grade this year – crazy!

Anyway, my younger kids attended an art workshop earlier this summer and one of the things they learned to make were big mouth drawings. They had so much fun with them that I knew I needed to create some printable versions.

BIg mouth monster coloring pages are fun! Print them off, color them in, then fold and unfold to open and close the monster's mouth.

So I commissioned some big mouth monster drawings from a local artist, Michael Funk, and my kids have spent HOURS coloring them this week. Every time a friend comes over they beg me to print out more big mouth monsters. These guys are fun!

When they are folded up, they just look normal – well, normal for a monster, of course. But when you unfold them you get to see the giant mouth that was hiding inside the fold. The surprise factor makes them more fun that normal coloring pages, and I’ve been amazed at how long my kids and their friends have stayed happy and busy coloring this week.

Some of the monsters have extra surprises inside the fold as well – like a tail, multiple tongues, or a snack. Your kids are going to love them!

Each coloring page is sized to print on normal 8.5×11 paper. I used normal printer paper so they are easy to fold.

Cut the pages in half along the cut line in the middle. Then, if you look closely, you’ll see little dashes on the edges of the paper. These show you where to fold the monsters.

You’ll fold the bottom of the paper up on the top fold line, then fold it back down on the bottom fold line.
